You should write a book

That is, if you want to. It’s a great way to get your thoughts down on paper and share them with the world. You can assert your expertise and gain respect as a recognized expert in your field. I’ve asked hundreds of clients their reasons for writing a book and over half of them say they are doing it for the recognition or ‘fame’. Nothing wrong with that!

Many people want to make money with their book. You should be aware that it is quite difficult to make a living with income from book sales alone. You would need to sell over 50,000 copies of your book every year to do that, and there are only 1000 titles in the world achieve that. However, once you are a published author, you can use that book to open doors to new business, higher fees and many other opportunities such as speaking engagements, interviews and joint ventures. You can also have an electronic version of your book, an audio version and even a video version if you want. So they money make come from other related activities.

You should use a book coach or consultant

Coaching and consultancy have become accepted ways to improve performance in many areas and to achieve better outcomes in less time than we would without help. You may have used a coach in other areas of your life and work. Why wouldn’t you want to get some help to improve your chances of success? It is a proven fact that people who use a book coach have a much higher level of success. Many people talk about writing a book but few ever even start! Of those that start, so many give up somewhere along the line and the book is never finished.

There are many ways a good book coach can add value, from guiding you on style and format, to content, dealing with challenges like writers block, procrastination and indecision, all the way through to helping you understand your market, how you should reach that market and how to get the best return on your efforts.

With expert guidance, your chances of writing an excellent book increase by around 1000% - yes, that's right, your chances increase by 1000%!

You should let The Book Midwife™ help you

If you decide to get help writing a book, you want to make sure that you get the results you want.  The Book Midwife™ has helped hundreds of clients over eight years to write, publish and sell many thousands of books. We have a proven methodology and over 95% success rate of those clients who start programs with us. This means that they went from ‘just an idea’ to finished book in only 90 days!

"Mindy is a dynamo of positive energy and an unwielding supporter in the unlocking of your potential to be a writer and get that book inside you out. My experience of her is that she is relentless in ensuring you stick with the sometimes challenging process of writing and without one critical word enables you to get back in track and delivering what you promised to do. A real gem to have as your support in the writing of your book and a great person to have in your network for her sparkling energy alone."
- Mary Gregory, Change and Development Coach/Consultant and founder of Playing Hamlet

Private Coaching and Consultancy
The Book Midwife™ exclusive private program has enabled over one hundred clients to get the exact attention and support they need, exactly when they need it.

How does it work?
It's a 90-day program designed to take you from the concept and ideas stage all the way through to completed manuscript.  We begin with a half-day session face-to-face or on the telephone, and then we have as many sessions (mainly by telephone) as we need to get you your outcome.  It is a completely unlimited program, which means that if you get stuck in between calls, or need any help or advice whatsoever, you simply need to get in touch.  We will not be counting sessions or hours spent.  The only constraint is that the entire program must be completed within 90 days.

That is why I only work with a handful of private clients at any given time.  Most of the time my list is full or nearly full.  I only work with serious, committed individuals who are willing to make the book a priority for the duration of the program.  The 90-day timeframe has been proven to be the most effective way of writing the best book in the shortest time.  If you take longer than that, you will not have the momentum and the flow.  It will also take you longer because you will need to do a lot more re-reading and re-editing of your writing.  If you write the book too quickly, your ideas will not have any time to 'percolate' and you may end up with just a snapshot of your ideas.

How much commitment are we talking about?
If you can carve out an hour a day, or 8-10 hours a week, you will be able to complete the program very easily.  95% of all clients who follow the program methodology complete their books within the 90 days.  Your book will take between 50 and 100 hours of focused time, so the more time you can spend on it, the sooner you will finish.  If you cannot find or make an hour a day or 8-10 hours a week, then I would suggest you wait to start your book project until you can make that commitment.

“Mindy is my book coach, and I can honestly say that my book has twice the quality and authenticity of it might have been because she was involved. One of the most optimistic and connected women I know, she is brilliant to work with and the only person in the world I recommend in this field. If there’s a book in anyone, Mindy will bring it out!”
- Rob Brown, Professional Speaker, Consultant and Author of How to Build Your Reputation

"A coach and a mentor, Mindy goes for excellence, and she doesn't take no for an answer.  She's on your team, and she wants you to soar.  That much is evident from the first five minuteds of working with her... Take notes, and write until there's smoke coming off the page.  The clarity of her thinking is only matched by the speed of how it all comes together.  Blink and you will miss some real gold nuggets."
- Max Eames, Author of Wealth Mechanic

“Mindy was the only person who could have helped me achieve this result.”
 - Eilidh Milnes, author of Love Your Life...Survive the System

Increasingly, there are more book coaches, writing coaches and mentors coming into the market than ever before. This is a good thing, since so many people would never write their books without help. Just make sure you choose the right coach for you, someone who has a track record helping authors write and publish the kind of book you want to write. Ensure that you agree with and like the proposed way of working and that you feel it will support you in your goals. Lastly, you need to know that you will get along with your coach, so the personality element is key. If it feels right, go with it; if not, find another coach.
